A kindhearted 16 year old named Brenden McGee was working at his first after-school job at The Whitey’s Ice Cream shop in Moline, Illinois. He was working the drive-through window, and a woman drove up wanting to order a milkshake.

He could tell that she was upset and had been crying, and she could barely talk. Brenden made the shake, handed it to her and said ‘Your shake is on me tonight. You have a goodnight.’ He went on working not giving the interaction a second thought, but then a few days later the woman returned to the shop.

She wanted to speak to the manager, and the manager was afraid that the woman was going to file a complaint about Brenden. Whitey’s was a staple in Illinois, and Ronda made sure her staff was friendly and generous.

Instead, the woman told the manager, Ronda what her personal situation was and why she was so upset the day that Brenden served her. The woman’s husband had passed away weeks earlier, and she was in mourning, and still struggling.
