Police Discover Two Bodies In Country Legend's Home; This Is What We Know So Far

Late country singer Jean Shepard's granddaughter, Icie Hawkins, was murdered at the singer’s home, where her husband Benny Birchfield, 79, currently lives. Birchfield was married to Shepard for almost five decades, before she passed away this past September.

On Saturday at 3 a.m., Benny was found by the police outside the house after he had been stabbed multiple times. Shepard’s 18-year-old granddaughter had also been stabbed and was rushed to the hospital, where she passed away from her injuries. Travis Sanders, 21, the girl's boyfriend, was also found inside the house, dead from a gunshot wound.

Travis and Icie had been in a relationship since May, according to Daily Mail, and they were both in the house at the time the killers entered. According to the Hendersonville Police Department, Icie had been living with Benny for the last couple of months.

The police released a statement saying they are not searching for a suspect since ‘everyone who was there was identified.’ Once the autopsies are complete, authorities will release more information about the case.
