In the geek world, especially the convention world, you can make a name for yourself if you have a special talent to set you apart from the rest of the circuit. Cosplaying, the art of dressing up as your favorite character, is one way to do this. But you have to spend tireless days and nights to get to the level of some of the most popular cosplayers in the world, such as:
For Asta Young, her popularity as a ‘tiny cosplayer’ got so big that she landed a spot in the new Lifetime reality TV series, Little Women: Dallas. She’s a newcomer to the reality TV world, but she’s already becoming a charming viral star because of her beauty and adorable personality.
The TV show, a spin-off of Little Women: Atlanta, will premiere on November 2 and it will feature a number of other short women from the Texas area.
Asta Young was born in Hong Kong and went to Arizona State University for Art Studies. She’s an avid artist, cosplayer and dog lover.
Her dreams include to illustrate her own children’s book and own a bar with her husband Ty.
She stands a 4 feet 5 inches, and she keeps a blog where she talks about her life as a short-statured person, ‘I used to live in China and most people there are already small. Because I’m extra small, I would still get glares and stares’.
On her blog, astayoung.com, she talks about what it’s like shopping for clothes. ‘When I have problems shopping for clothes, that is when I take out a pair of scissors or find a magical seamstress. Or there is this awesome perk called the kids section where yes, we do occasionally shop at. Afterall, who doesn’t like cheaper clothes?’
