But sometimes, things aren’t always what they seem. Off-screen, there is manipulation, abuse, threats and more.

But don’t just take our word for it. Former adult star, Shelley Lubben, is now leading a movement against the industry after enduring what she did first-hand.

Lubben was abused by a teenage boy and his sister when she was just nine years old, thus exposing her to inappropriate activity when she was just a child. In addition, she was allowed to watch things like R-rated films and television shows.

As she grew older, she rebelled since her father was not very involved in her life. Unfortunately she rebelled a little too much and her dad ended up kicking her out of the house. She found herself in San Fernando, L.A, where she was introduced into the adult film industry.

‘He lured me in for 35 dollars, and then he… you know, I had to escape from him physically, because he became very abusive, and then a Madame found me, and it just spiraled on,’ she revealed in an interview with Life Site.

The second she entered the world of adult entertainment, she learned the horrifying truths that you don’t see on your computer screen. ‘It’s all just a pack of lies,’ she added. ‘People do [adult films] because they need the money, and most of them don’t have other options or education.’
