9. Hashtag - Yep. The hashtag is 10 years old. It didn’t catch on right away, but was suggested on Twitter in 2007. They’re a part of our society now, and most kids won’t ever know that it was once called the ‘pound’ sign.

10. The Most Interesting Man In The World - Though the ads actually started running on TV in late 2006, the internet didn’t really start using his face until early 2007. It’s become so widespread, that ‘I don’t always ____, but when I do I ____’ is still heard every day on college campuses.

11. Disaster Girl - The adorable little arsonist was photographed in 2004, but uploaded to the internet three years later. Photoshopping her face into any disaster in the world is still done today, despite the girl being a 16-year old now.

12. Success Kid / I Hate Sandcastles - The happy little successful tot was originally photoshopped to look like he’d crushed another kids sandcastle. A few years later he’d debut as an AdviceAnimal on Reddit as Success Kid. Still one of the most wrongly-used memes on the internet.
