Irish Dudes Wake Up On The Frontline In Iraq After Drunken Night

Two Irish backpackers took their partying to another level when they ended up on the frontline in northern Iraq. For the past two months, 26-year-old William Meara and 24-year-old Craig Reynolds have been travelling across the middle east, and made friends with Kurdish fighters who were allegedly battling ISIS.

The two men were drinking with a Canadian freedom fighter and, the next thing they knew, were being taken to the ‘only active war zone on the planet’ where they were given traditional Kurdish uniforms.

Will wrote on a blog that he and Craig passed through many refugee camps and checkpoints before getting to the final barricades of heavily armed troops. ‘We must have said something when we were out with him the night before and that’s how he got the idea,' Will told the 'Irish Independent'.

‘Before we knew it we were meeting all of these high-profile officials. There was a commander of the local area with us. It was absolutely terrifying to be honest. It was probably one of the scariest things I’ve ever done,' continued Will.
