1. Although painting your nails seems like a beauty trend that’s been around forever, the first nail polish patent was created 97 years ago in 1919. The first color was of a light pink hue.
2. Back then, Romen women would dilate their pupils with belladonna drops because bigger pupils was considered a trait of beauty. However, the chemical in these drops were of a poisonous plant called the perennial herbaceous, commonly referred to as ‘deadly nightshade’ that made this trend short lived.
3. Since red lipstick wasn’t around, the Aztecs used beetles for a big and bright lip.
4. While on set, Elizabeth Taylor denied the permission of allowing other women on-set to wear red lipstick. She loved her red lip THAT much.
