Travis was a country star throughout the eighties recording over 20 albums and 50 singles-16 of which became hits.

In 2013 Travis was admitted to hospital with an upper respiratory infection. He ended up suffering a stroke and his condition was classified as critical. He suffered damage to his vocal chords his ability to walk.
