Becoming a meme isn’t necessarily a blessing, most people would rather not have their face associated with a viral gag.
However, one young boy from Ghana is unknowingly benefiting from becoming a meme as it’s paying for his education.
Five-year-old Jake, who lives in a small village in the north of Ghana, was photographed by Carlos Cortes when he was visiting his small classroom.
After Cortes shared the picture of Jake pensively doing his schoolwork, it became an Internet sensation in South Africa.
The picture became photoshopped to different hilarious results and continually tweeted with comic relatable quotes that take the image into a new context entirely.
However, this viral image of Jake has worked in his favor. One of his past mentors decided to start a GoFundMe page to help pay for the young boy’s education as well as resources for all of his classmates.
