Man Answers: Are 100 Push Ups A Day A Good Idea?

When you’re trying to change your unhealthy ways, it’s a good idea to start working out. Once you take your first step into the gym, you may be overwhelmed by all of the machines and equipment. If you’re a gym noob and you have no idea what you’re doing, you might want to stick to the exercises that you’re more familiar with. Push ups can help you get stronger right? But is it a good idea to only do a bunch of push ups in order to get swole? 

 In this video, a fitness expert explains the benefits and disadvantages of doing 100 push ups a day to get fit. Since many beginners have no idea where to start, they may believe that doing a ton of push ups is the best way to get some bulging biceps. However, this might not be the most ideal method.

 

Although the exercise does help train your pecs, triceps, and deltoids, it’s not the best exercise for strength training. “If your goals are endurance for push ups,  then 100 push ups might be a good beginner program,” says the trainer. However, if your goal is strength then doing 100 push ups a day might not be the best way to achieve your desired result. If you really want to build muscle, then he suggests that you do exercises that have progressions.

Once you’ve mastered the push up, the man suggests that you should make it progressively harder for yourself if you want to build muscle. Rather than continue with the standard version, he advises viewers to try diamond push ups. This is when you place yours hands on the floor in the shape in the diamond, making the exercise much more difficult.

However, being able to do a large number of push ups is good for your endurance. So if that’s your end goal, then doing 100 push ups a day can be a good routine for beginners. But if you want to have a balanced workout, then you also need to do other exercises to balance out your body.  

 It’s recommended that you add other exercises into your routine to maintain a good figure. You can try adding in sit ups and pull ups to your workout in order to target areas on your body that need more training.
