With everything that’s been going on in Charlottesville these past few weeks, it really makes you wonder what is actually happening in the world these days. Why is there so much hate going around? It makes you wanna stop and think about the future. A lot went on in Charlottesville during the recent protest, hate spreading on all corners.
Things got even worse when a car plowed through a sea of counter-protesters that were responding to a white-nationalist/Neo-Nazi rally that was organized by Jason Kessler, and lead by Richard Spencer and David Duke. Spencer was famously punched in the face by a protester in Washington, D.C., earlier this year. Duke is the leader of the Ku Klux Klan.
So who exactly was behind the wheel of that car that trampled a crowd of innocent people trying to stand up against hate? The guy’s name is James Alex Fields. According to reports, Fields had left his home earlier that day, telling his mom that he was joining the white nationalist rally.
Driving at top speed into two other cars and then into the counter-protesters, Fields killed one woman, 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injured 19 others. According to The Star, all of this took place right next to a statue of Robert E. Lee, who was a Confederacy leader in the Civil War.
So who exactly is James Alex Fields? Well, according to his high school teacher, he was a huge admirer of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany. This isn’t his first time facing problems with the law.
Fields was also previously accused of beating his mother and threatening her with a knife according to The Star who noted this statement was based on police records released this past Monday.
His mother, Samantha Bloom, is disabled and uses a wheelchair. She repeatedly has called the police about her son, James Alex Fields Jr., in 2010 and 2011, telling police that he was on medication to control his temper.
