12 Warning Signs That You Are Dealing With A Person Who Is Evil

Child Died After 325-Pound Adult Sat On Her As Punishment

A nine-year-old girl from Pensacola named Dericka Lindsay was found unresponsive in her home after her 325-pound cousin sat on her for more than 10 minutes. The cousin, named as Veronica Green Posey, is a 64-year-old woman who claims that she sat on the nine-year-old as a form of punishment.

It was around 1:35 pm when paramedics responded to a cardiac arrest call near Bryant Road.

When the paramedics got to the home Dericka was already unconscious and was later transported to Baptist Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Dericka’s parents, 69-year-old Grace Joan Smith and 62-year-old Edmund Smith have both been charged with child neglect for failing to report the abuse and Grace was also charged with cruelty towards a child.

In the report, Grace called Veronica over to help with disciplining Dericka for being ‘out of control.’

The parents allege that Veronica beat Dericka with a ruler and a metal pipe before Dericka ran to an armchair for cover.

It was at this point when Veronica decided to sit on her nine-year-old cousin and kill her. The father said that Veronica sat on Dericka for at least ten minutes before Dericka began to complain about not being able to breathe.

Veronica sat on Dericka for an additional two minutes even after hearing her pleas of not being able to breathe.

When she stood up, she found the child unresponsive and called 911. She performed CPR after making the call.

In an emailed statement, the secretary of the Florida Department of Children and Families, Mike Carroll, has said that the family has prior interaction with the child welfare system.

‘Dericka’s death is appalling and DCF will continue coordinating with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office to hold anyone responsible for her death accountable. As the family has a prior interaction with the child welfare system, a thorough quality assurance review will be conducted to review all prior interactions this family has had with the child welfare system.’
