Chrissy Teigen Offers To Pay Fine For McKayla Maroney’s Truth-Telling About Her Sexual Assault

Former USA gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar is facing new accusations of sexual abuse from team members he worked with, including McKayla Maroney. However, Maroney was paid a $1.25 million settlement in an earlier case. This included a non-disclosure agreement with a fine of $100,000 for breach of contract. This week, Chrissy Teigen offered to pay that fine so McKayla Maroney could speak against Nassar.

Nassar, who worked with Olympic gymnasts for years, was already serving 60 years in prison for possession of child pornography. In court, he will hear statements from 98 victims, as well as their family members. The list includes gymnasts Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, and Aly Raisman. McKayla Maroney is also expected to speak, however doing so would violate her NDA from the settlement she received from USA gymnastics.

Statements from other victims of Nassar’s abuse have been harrowing. Former gymnast Kyle Stephens spoke directly to Nassar in court. “I testify to let the world know that you are a repulsive liar,” Stephens said in her statement, “Perhaps you have figured it out by now, but little girls don’t stay little forever. They grow into strong women that return to destroy your world.”

Nassar pleaded guilty to 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse and could face life in prison. His victims are speaking out as a part of his sentencing hearings. McKayla Maroney first spoke publicly about the abuse she faced in October 2017 (which may have already violated the NDA in her settlement). Other gymnasts have already made their statements in the sentencing hearings
