Most people have been on the receiving end of a mistaken text. However, for Charlyn Willis, a resident of Georgia, it took a surprising turn. Recently, Charlyn got engaged and the excitement didn’t end with the proposal. After agreeing to marry her now fiance, she picked up the phone to tell her family and friends the good news. However, instead of sending a text to her sister, she sent an engagement announcement text to the wrong number.
Who would’ve imagined that the number would belong to no other than Sarah Michelle Gellar? Gellar received this surprising text of Charlyn which also included a photo of her showing off her new engagement ring. After receiving this text, Gellar’s wrong number reaction was epic.
She decided to post Charlyn’s photo on her Instagram story and Facebook page, asking her followers to help her send Charlyn and her husband well-wishes. She wrote, “This is #CharlynWillis. She got engaged yesterday and meant to text her sister, but in all the excitement, got me instead.”
She also added, “Please help me say congrats to Charlyn. (And her fiancé whose name I don’t know).” Now the engagement announcement text will not only reach Charlyn’s friends and family but the whole world of social media users. What a better way to tell everyone that your fiance put a ring on it than to have a celebrity post about it?
Charlyn wrote a Facebook post after seeing Gellar’s wrong number reaction: “I guess the best way to announce your engagement is to have a celebrity do it for you.” And Buffy the vampire slayer at that!
She later added, “Thank you, Sarah…You’ve truly made my engagement experience even more of a life changer! Please know when we set a date, I’ll be reaching out to invite you, Freddie, and the kids!”
Now if she makes good on that promise, and Gellar actually shows up, that will be one hell of a wedding! And everyone will have a wrong number text to thank for the lucky coincidence.
