The latest Korean beauty trend is trying to accomplish exactly what its name suggests – a complexion with a sheen like a pane of glass. Glass skin, which evolved from a multiple-step dedication to achieving a youthful complexion, is a long-term commitment that promises to lead you to smooth, hydrated, seemingly transparent skin.
One beauty guru has committed to achieving glass skin and her skincare routine has gone viral. Ellie Choi, an aspiring makeup artist, revealed every step of her skincare routine on social media – and people were interested.
The Instagram post has over 30,000 likes and is still gaining more social media attention. Why? Probably because her complexion is everything you thought glass skin would look like and her natural glow is what usually can only be achieved using a ton of dewy highlighter. But what’s her secret? Choi shared everything you need to know to achieve glass skin and I’ve broken it down step-by-step…
Step 1: Cleansing. Every night, Choi starts off by taking off her makeup using Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Wipes. But cleansing once isn’t enough to achieve glass skin…
Step 2: Choi then washes her face with one of two cleansers. She points out that the more affordable option is Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser, which retails under $10, but that she loves Kiehl’s facial cleanser as well.
Step 3: Next step, toner. Choi says she uses Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3 after face wash to “remove any remaining dirt and oil.”
Step 4: After toning comes moisturizer! Choi instructs to put on a “decent amount” and says she loves Wonjin Effects’ Water Bomb Cream but lists Cetaphil’s Moisturizing Cream as a cost-friendly alternative.
Step 5: Every other day, Choi will exfoliate her skin after cleansing with Skinfood’s Black Sugar Strawberry Wash-Off Mask. Choi says it helps to get rid of dead skin effectively, which is key to a healthy, natural glow.
Step 6: The other important step to a healthy, natural glow, Choi shares, is using 1-2 sheet masks weekly. Her favorite are these sheet masks from Innisfree, a Korean beauty brand.
Step 7: Choi says the final but most important is your diet! What you eat affects your skin, so don’t expect to achieve glass skin overnight if you can’t part with the greasy foods. She also recommends drinking lots of water and eating a ton of fruits and veggies!
Remember, Choi stated in her caption that she has combination skin and that she’s “oily in [the] T-zone and dry around [her] cheeks,” so you’ll have to tweak her routine to find which products work best with your skin. If you need some inspiration to make the changes though, scroll to the end of her post for some crazy results. “Glass skin” is real!
