Ashley Murrell, 36, from Wellington, Somerset who found her husband, Mikey Murrell, dead on the couch has a heartbreaking message: “Kiss your loved ones goodnight.” Reports say that a fight had broken out between the couple and Murrell had banished her husband from the bedroom to sleep on the couch.
The fight was as a result of the long hours that Mikey had been putting in at work. Mrs. Murrell was distraught and fed up with her husband over the fact that he was hardly home. The mom of three said, “He would work 16-hour shifts, seven days a week just so he could save up enough to take us all to Disney every year. He was so worn out but he would do anything just to see us smile.”
She claims, “The hours he was working were just getting too much. He was so exhausted all the time and he was running himself into the ground and his health was going downhill fast.” Recounting the night, she said that he looked a mess when he came home and she had never seen him so exhausted. Mrs. Murrell says she couldn’t stand seeing him this way.
She got angry over his work schedule and says, “I had a go at him and told him to sleep on the sofa which was stupid because I really just wanted him around more.”
According to the mother, when she came out of the bedroom the next morning to check on him, it was obvious to her that something was wrong. Not only was he still lying in the same position but his face had a discolored, gray look.
When she saw her husband in this state, Mrs. Murrell said that she couldn’t immediately process what had happened. She reached over to touch him and said that he was cold.
She felt maddened by grief and ran out of the room screaming “your dad’s dead” to her 14-year-old, before running out of the house and screaming into the street “Mickey’s dead.”
