It looks like Ivanka Trump is stirring up controversy even at the Olympics. U.S. Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy tweeted his thoughts on the daughter of President Donald Trump participating in the closing ceremony at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Kenworthy made his reservations loud and clear when he tweeted, “Everybody here has worked so hard to make it to the Olympics and have the opportunity to walk in the closing ceremony! Well … Everyone except Ivanka.” The athlete added, “Honestly, tf is she doing here??”
Serving as the leader of Team U.S.A., Ivanka Trump has been hanging out with Olympians since her arrival alongside White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders, who was also part of the U.S delegation. Ivanka Trump and Sarah Sanders tweeted out photos with several American athletes and their families to commemorate their trip to Pyeongchang, South Korea. But Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy wasn’t as enthused by their participation and made it known on Twitter.
Eric Trump has since blasted Kenworthy for his tweet, calling his comments “gross” and “disgusting.” Eric criticized the Olympian on Fox & Friends for choosing a “time of happiness” for their country to make a divisive political statement. “I think it’s disgusting,” stated Eric Trump. “That’s not what the Olympics is about. Politics should not enter into the Olympics.” The President’s son praised his sister, calling Ivanka an “unbelievable representative” of the United States.
