Jason Momoa has been on our radar since the first season of Game Of Thrones. The Hawaiian native took on the role of Khal Drogo, warlord and undefeated warrior of the Dothraki people, back when the HBO hit series premiered in 2011 and has proved himself to be quite the up-and-coming star ever since.
If you, like me, have been following Jason Momoa a little too closely on social media then you probably know a few things about the actor: his love for Guinness, that he’s amazing at rock climbing and, oh yeah, that he’s freaking Aquaman! But how much do you really know about his personal life? Well, grab your tissues, because in a recent appearance on The Late, Late Show With James Corden, the GOT star shared he’s now a married man. That’s right, Aquaman is off the market.
Okay, so he’s technically been off the market since he met his wife, actress Lisa Bonet 12 years ago. The couple has two children together; a 10-year-old daughter named Lola Iolani Momoa and an 8-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa. The actor is also a stepfather to the incredibly talented Zoe Kravitz, from Bonet’s first marriage to musician Lenny Kravitz. And although it was rumored Momoa and Bonet had wed back in 2007, the actor looked beyond thrilled to share the news that it was finally official – and that’s not even the cutest part.
The Frontier star was quick to show off his newest accessory – a wedding ring. But even more adorable than his enthusiasm was his story of how they first met. Apparently, he’d known they’d end up together long before she did.
When James Corden asked the Game of Thrones actor if it was love at first sight, Momoa had quite the story to share. The actor explained that he’d had a crush on his wife since he first saw her on television: “Ever since I was 8 years old and I saw her on TV I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one.”
He confessed that although he considered himself a “full-fledged stalker,” he avoided telling Bonet that tiny detail until after their two children were born. On their first encounter in 2005, the actor admitted that he got dreadlocks to impress her and literally screamed after finally meeting her through mutual friends.
The 38-year-old actor said the fireworks were instant and after Bonet ordered his favorite beer the rest was history. Did I mention he also referred to his wife as a “queen, always”? Come on!
