The recent onslaught of allegations that have been poured onto Harvey Weinstein has led to more and more people opening up about their own sexual harassment issues. Just recently, Terry Crews came out and said that he was groped by a high-level executive at a party. And now, Star Trek: Discovery Star, Anthony Rapp, has come out and said that he was hit on by Kevin Spacey as a teenager.
The 46-year-old told Buzzfeed News that when he was just 14 years old at the time, a then 26-year-old Kevin Spacey tried to ‘seduce’ him.
The pair met back in 1986 on Broadway where they appeared on separate shows.
Anthony stated that he was invited to one of Kevin Spacey’s apartment parties but the then teen was bored and ended up watching TV in the actor’s bedroom.
He soon realized that the party was over and everyone had left when Kevin Spacey walked into the bedroom apparently drunk.
In the interview with Buzzfeed, Anthony said: ‘he picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me.’
He continued: ‘he was trying to seduce me. I don’t know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually.’
Anthony goes on to say that he pushes Kevin off of him and then goes into the bathroom door where he locks himself in.
‘I was like, ‘What is happening?’ I saw on the counter next to the sink a picture of him having his arm around a man. So I think on some level I was like, ‘Oh. He’s gay. I guess.’’
The New York native goes on: ‘I opened the door, and I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to go home now.’ He followed me to the front door of the apartment, and as I opened the door to leave, he was leaning on the front door[frame]. And he was like, ‘Are you sure you wanna go?’ I said, ‘Yes, good night,’ and then I did leave.’
Anthony, who came out publicly in 1992, says that even to this day his stomach churns whenever he sees Kevin Spacey.
‘I still to this day can’t wrap my head around so many aspects of it. I’m hopeful that this can make a difference.’
Kevin Spacey went on Twitter on Sunday to address these allegations. ‘I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago.’
The 58-year-old continues: ‘but if I did behave as he described, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.’
Since those allegations, Netflix has suspended the production of the final season of ‘House of Cards’ indefinitely after the allegations surfaced about their show’s lead star.
