Lindsay Lohan is clapping back at critics after she publicly defended Harvey Weinstein in an Instagram video, saying “most women in America” didn’t help her when she was allegedly being abused by her fiance.
The actress took to Instagram to clarify her stance on the accusations of sexual misconduct against Harvey Weinstein, saying “Whatever anyone says, I am FOR #womenempowerment #strongwoman #BESTRONG #karma will always take its toll. ” Lilo wrote the caption alongside a screenshot from the movie Parent Trap.
However, in captured screenshots of the original caption, Lohan also wrote, “As if most women in America cared how I was abused by my ex-fiance…when not one person stood up for me while he was abusing me.”
The star was engaged to Russian mogul Egor Tarabasov back in 2016 until disturbing photos and videos surfaced online of violent altercations between the two while they were vacationing in Mykonos, Greece. Following a slew of angry social media posts, in which the Mean Girls star accused her fiance of abuse and cheating, the couple called off the engagement.
The 31-year-old actress, who starred in several Weinstein Company productions herself, pleaded with the public to stop attacking the producer after investigative reports broke out of decades of alleged abuse. She also encouraged Weinstein’s estranged wife not to divorce him.
“I feel very bad for HW right now, I don’t think it’s right what’s going on,” said Lohan over Instagram. “I think Georgina needs to take a stand and be there for her husband.” The video was posted hours after Harvey Weinstein’s wife, designer Georgina Chapman, said that she would be leaving the 65-year-old producer after 10 years of marriage.
“He’s never harmed me or did anything to me,” Lohan said in the videos. “We’ve done several movies together. I think everyone needs to stop. I think it’s wrong. So, stand up.” The video has since been deleted.
