Although there is no perfect or ideal body type and every woman should feel comfortable in her own skin, there are certain situations where a bad diet can lead to poor health.
For Mama June (known for her reality TV career on Toddlers and Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo) she finally had enough of her lifestyle of binge-eating junk food and a lack of exercise. At her heaviest, she was 460 lbs and most people probably remember her struggling with her weight and health issues on the show.
Recently, she made headlines for more controversial topics. After hearing the news of her ex-husband remarrying, Mama June Shannon decided to get in shape in time for the wedding and finally shed off the pounds that she told People Magazine she would never gain back.
Check out the shocking transformation of Mama June Shannon and how she managed to lose 300 pounds. Combined with strict diets and training, Shannon has also had some help from a few different procedures spending around $75,000 and has been adjusting to her new life.
When Shannon was on television during the years of the Honey Boo Boo series in 2012-2014, many people saw her at some of her heaviest weights.
Over the years she began to lose weight slowly and long-time fans will be shocked to see her most recent appearance in the February release Mama June: From Not to Hot.
She decided she was done living an unhealthy lifestyle and went through four weight loss surgeries for the sake of her well-being and more importantly, her health.
Although some of her family members were nervous about the procedure, Shannon was set on having surgeries to work on her chest, and loose skin on her neck and stomach which she refers to as ‘turkey neck’ and ‘bat wings’
To help keep her motivated in the exercise department, she received help from Kenya Crooks, a personal trainer and weight loss expert.
Crooks’ serious training style can be related to that of a drill sergeant and he really helped push Shannon to her limits.
Shannon explained that there were definitely days where she felt like being lazy in bed, but Crooks pushed for the effort.
Part of the show was also about Shannon accepting love back into her life and possibly finding a new partner. She went on a series of dates, some of which went well, and others not so much.
However, as she continued to lose weight and feel healthier, her already sky-high confidence rocketed.
She began to realize that she doesn’t need a man to make her happy and she wants to find someone who gets to know her for who she is and not what she looks like.
Now down to a size 4, Shannon shared with People Magazine that she isn’t looking for anything in particular right now. But is determined to keep up her healthy lifestyle.
Although no drastic change comes without a learning period. Shannon said that she has been sick a few times due to over-eating, as you can’t do that with a gastric sleeve.
With her weight and health finally under control, Shannon hopes that her daughters might be inspired to make similar life changes.
Although she does worry about their health, she said she won’t force them to make changes. However, she also said ‘I’ve seen Pumpkin and Alana lose and gain weight, but I don’t want them to end up like I did at 460 lbs. Who would want that?’
Even Shannon herself isn’t completely restricting herself from all of the foods she enjoys. She still treats herself to her favorites such as barbecue and Mexican food, but all in moderation.
Here’s wishing the best of luck to Shannon on her new diet and health plan. Hopefully, she can maintain the steady diet and stay at her current goal weight.
