June Shannon, better known as Mama June, made her name known when she dominated reality television with her instantly quotable pageant contestant daughter by appearing in the shows:
- “Toddlers & Tiaras”
- “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”
- Multiple seasonal specials.
While her previous television appearances may have highlighted her and her family’s less than stellar dietary lifestyle choices, her new show, Mama June: From Not to Hot, shows the reality mom flip the script and embrace health and fitness.
Shannon put in extensive work and was able to completely transform her body, slimming down from 460 pounds to a size 4. Mama June’s trainer shared some of Shannon’s secrets that helped her shed the weight.
Fans were used to seeing Mama June guzzling soda and downing fistfuls of cheese balls, but now that the reality star has dropped 300 lbs from dieting, exercise, and excess skin removal surgery, she’s not looking back.
“I know myself — I’m never going to go back to what I was before,” Shannon told People Now. “It’s all about maintaining. I’m kind of obsessed with the scale, and beating myself up even if I gain a few ounces or a pound.”
One of the biggest changes Mama June underwent was what she was consuming on a regular basis and how to swap out the junk food for healthier alternatives.
Shannon’s trainer, Kenya Crooks, revealed to People Magazine some of the swaps Mama June made to her diet to lose weight and keep it off.
