A Kansas man’s body was found in an airport parking lot several months after he died, and his family is distraught and furious that it took so long to find him.
On September 12th, police officers at Kansas City International found a parked truck with a badly-decomposed body in the driver’s seat. After a forensic investigation, police were able to determine that it was Randy Potter, a Lenexa man who was reported missing eight months ago. Potter is believed to have died by suicide.
Potter was last seen alive on January 17th, before he left for work in the morning. As the weeks passed, his family frantically searched for him, hiring a private investigator, postering the neighborhood, and organizing search parties to find him.
While his wife Carolina checked the airport parking lot in the first week, she soon directed her attention away from it.
The airport had assured her that their security team checked the lots regularly, and they told her that if Potter’s car was in the parking lot, they would find it.
But Potter’s car sat in the parking lot for eight months, decomposing, and it took reports of a foul smell for the airport to investigate the car.
And Potter’s family is furious.
