A man has been arrested and charged with killing his wife while aboard a Princess Cruises ship with his daughter. Kenneth Manzanares was detained and now faces murder charges for the death of his 39-year-old wife who has been identified as Kristine Manzanares. She was initially identified as K.M. according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court by the FBI.
This has been ruled as a ‘suspicious’ death which has called for teams from Anchorage, Seattle, Juneau, and Utah to speak with the family after the incident. The murder occurred while the cruise ship was traveling from Ketchikan to Juneau, according to Acting Attorney for Alaska Bryan Schroder.
K.M had been found with a severe head wound and blood splattered throughout their cabin, their daughter had run for help but K.M was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m. Apparently, an Emerald Princess security officer noticed blood on Kenneth Manzanares clothes and hands and detained him in the adjoining cabin. Other witnesses noticed the blood on Kenneth’s clothing as well. One of them asked what happened to which Kenneth replied ‘She would not stop laughing at me.’
Another witness saw Kenneth grab his wife’s body and drag her toward the balcony of the cabin. He then dragged the woman by her ankles back into the cabin. There were other family members aboard the ship the night the murder took place. Security officers entered the cabin shortly after.
