Man Loses 168 Pounds After Finding Out His Girlfriend Was Cheating

They say bodybuilders are made from bad breakups. Now, professionals might dispute that notion but it is the case that a lot of people (male or female) have gotten into tremendous shape after a nasty breakup or divorce.

A twenty six-year-old man lost a whopping 168 pounds after finding out that his girlfriend at the time was cheating on him.

Mike Vaughan lost nearly 170 pounds in just 18 months!

Mike was around 448 pounds when he was with his then girlfriend. He stated that his diet consisted of chips, sandwiches, and takeout food.

He said that he was always the ‘big one’ growing up but his weight ballooned when he entered into university where he was drinking on a regular basis while eating takeout, cheeseburgers, and toast.

Talking to the Manchester Evening News, Mike said: ‘I was in a depression because of my weight but didn’t know how to change. Then suddenly something inside me just clicked.’

Realizing that he had to change his lifestyle in order to live longer, Mike joined a six-week boot camp where he quickly dropped 14 pounds. Mike says that the first six months were tough but slowly and surely it became a habit.

When he finally hit the 50-pound mark (50lbs lost) he discovered that his girlfriend was cheating on him.

He said that rather than binge eat and revert back to square one, he used it as motivation to continue his fat loss.

‘I was in a bad place. I started to sink back into it, eating junk food, not going to the gym. My life could have gone in one of two ways. Go back into a depression and comfort eat and go back to square one, or use it as motivation to really improve my life.’

But nowadays, Mike says he is happier than ever and he is hoping to reach 240 pounds by the end of this year. He ended the interview by saying: ‘her cheating was a blessing in disguise.’
