There’s no denying that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are goals. They seem to have the perfect marriage and two gorgeous kids. Recently, Kutcher was awarded the Robert D. Ray Pillar of Character Award. In his speech, Ashton gave credits to his wife for building his character.
According to The Ray Awards website, this award goes to “individuals who demonstrate good character and provide leadership and inspiration to meet our mission.” This year, Ashton Kutcher was selected.
But he admits that when it comes to being a parent and building good character, he learned from Mila. He noted that she has helped him become the man he is today, using one specific example.
Kutcher said, “I thought I was awesome because I got up early and helped with the kids before she woke up, and I let her sleep a little bit…”
He continued, saying “…and then she’s like, ‘Well, now you’re gonna act tired? I do it every day.’ But it was a character moment, right? Because she’s right!”
Ashton continued his speech saying, “That’s a kind of jerk way to give something to someone. ‘Oh, I worked so hard to give you this gift.’”
In his speech, the actor was praising his wife for constantly training him on character and he noted that she is truly the best one to do it.
In his speech, it’s clear that Kutcher has the realization that being a parent doesn’t simply mean that the one parent takes on more of a responsibility than another. It’s truly an equal partnership.
Kutcher also explains how becoming a parent has taught him about unconditional love and generally about being a good person.
He said in his speech, “The greatest, greatest lesson in character in my life are my kids. When I had these kids, my wife and I had these kids, and we got to share that amazing, amazing honor…”
He continued, “…my first response was, I wanted to call my parents and say, ‘I’m sorry because I never knew how much you loved me.’”
To show just how seriously Ashton takes his role as a father and a husband and how big of an impact they’ve had on his life, he uploaded a photo of himself working on a refrigerator at home.
The Instagram post from April shows just how much Ashton helps at home. His caption read: “Work really begins the moment you get home. Fix the refrigerator.”
Of course, Mila also can’t help but gush over the love she has for her husband. According to SimpleMost, in 2014 Kunis told W Magazine, “We all get movie star crushes. I’m marrying mine.”
The two have truly built a beautiful family and home together. Mila’s response to Ashton really proves that parenting requires a joint effort.
