It was last Sunday when more than 26 people were killed inside of a Texas church. Another 20 people were wounded after a shooter entered the church and opened fire on the innocent civilians. Families were destroyed and lives were ruined during the service in the small town of Sutherland Springs.
Miley Cyrus decided to use her gigantic platform to post a message calling for tighter and stricter gun control.
She wrote: ‘my dreams have become nightmares & those nightmares, reality … This isn’t fair, this isn’t right, this isn’t just, this isn’t human!’
In her heartfelt post, she continued: ‘this is a TERRORIST act by a WHITE AMERICAN MAN! I am heartbroken & embarrassed. Mortified by our country & its s–tty system, lack of control/laws! This does NOT HAVE or NEED to happen! It’s devastatingly disgusting!’
The Grammy nominee continued: ‘I continue to be hopeful that enough is enough and the eyes of the ignorant will open and realize that (gun) VIOLENCE has to stop! This a–holes [sic] Facebook profile photo was a f–king riffle! I don’t know how much more it can take! #F–kGuns#F–kViolence My love is with you TX!’
As the positive post generated hundreds of thousands of likes and many more shares, there seemed to be just as many who were critiquing her choice of words.
Some members of social media seemed to have a problem with the fact that Miley pointed out that a white American man was responsible for the attack.
‘I am aghast by the reaction of my latest post. It is completely amazing to me how defensive and in denial this country really is!’
‘You are not focused on the horrific tragedy I addressed but more angered that I am putting a BIG bright spotlight on the fact it was a ‘WHITE AMERICAN MALE’ terrorist that walked in & killed 26 people (including children) leaving 20 severely injured!’
She went on to say that ‘gender, race, and religion, has and continues to matter for all the wrong reasons.’ She goes on to say that there is no need for Donald Trump to build a wall since ‘we’ve done it ourselves.’
She finished off her post with: ‘just a few of my favorite WHITE AMERICAN MALES … I do NOT & refuse to generalize or stereotype! Facts are Facts. You are all correct to believe every human deserves the same respect …. but please keep that in mind when you’re judging others. NOT just with the race, religion, gender, or sexuality which YOU identify with.’
