Our perceptions on what is considered “manly” and “girly” are changing over time. Back in the day, you were considered a “man” if you shaved, BBQ’d, went to work out with your guy friends and do other things that were considered masculine. I’m guessing that back in the day men wouldn’t even be caught dead drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte…if they existed.
1. But guys, it’s 2017 and that means Gender-specific activities should be thrown out the window. Today, more and more guys are proving that doing things that are “feminine” shouldn’t make them feel any less manly. Especially when they are around their “dude” friends. Here are 25 men who prove that you can still consider yourself a “guy’s guy” while enjoying scented candles, bath bombs and smelling some flowers with your partner. Embrace it guys, don’t shy away from it. Men on Reddit share things that they like to do that society would see as “feminine” or “unmasculine”. The first guy wrote, “On Sunday morning I met some guy friends for breakfast. We talked about all the stuff that we did the night before. Was a pretty crude conversation. At the end of the meal, I said I wanted a pumpkin spice latte. Some girl at the end of our table had this confused look on her face. Apparently, she couldn’t process the contrast from our stereotypical weekend morning “Bro Conversation” to “Yeah, I could totally go for a pumpkin spice latte right now” (deadlegs12).
2. “I love going to Lush and looking at all the colors and smelling all the smells. If I’m feeling really adventurous, I’ll even buy one that’s slightly sparkly and hope that no one will see the sparkles on me” (DenebVegaAltair). Nothing wrong with a man enjoying his bubble bath. Those bath bombs from Lush are pretty fun…especially the slightly sparkly ones.
