He’s a repeat white-collar criminal, but this cat burglar is doing it all for a good cause. Sir-Whines-A-Lot, the only feline employee of marketing company GuRuStu, has been stealing money from passers-by to give to charity.
Sir Whines-A-Lot lives a double life. By day, he catnaps around the marketing firm’s Tulsa head office, providing valuable stress-relief to their bipedal employees. But by night, the former rescue animal turns to crime, robbing the neighborhood’s fat cats to feed the homeless.
Company founder Stuart McDaniel noted one morning that there was cash on the floor near the kitty’s typical sunbathing spot, a mystery that mounted as the cash continued to pile up. It turned out that the feline felon had been grabbing at bills people slid under the door gap. Sir-Whines-a-Lot had been luring people over to the glass, prompting them to play with him – and what better toy for a person on the go than a dollar bill from their wallet?
And while he was initially coy, playing a game of cat-and-mouse with the money, his quick pounce almost always won him the cash.
As word spread through the city, more and more people lined up to play, and more and more people lost their money to the loveable lawbreaker.
“It’s become a game. It costs you a dollar to play, ’cause the cat’s going to get your money,” McDaniel told reporters.
Eventually, the office decided that Sir Whines A Lot’s bounty should be put to a charitable cause. McDaniel decided on the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless, as their philanthropic pet was once homeless himself.
They also decided to let the cat out of the bag on Facebook and gave the kleptomaniac kitty his own page and “secret identity” (CASHnip Kitty).
The bio on his page describes the mysterious cat as “a hustler with a philanthropic heart” who will “snatch your money and donate it to the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless”.
And the nation is in love with this miscreant mouser. Donations, letters of thanks, and even little kitty-bags filled with toys have been pouring in from across America from people who think he’s just the cat’s pajamas.
