The past eight years of having Barack Obama as president have been truly amazing. Making history back in 2008, becoming the first president of colour, Obama continues to make changes by touching the lives of many. During his time in office, Obama has:

  • Legalized Gay Marriage
  • Introduced Obamacare

It’s a bittersweet end to his second term, having to say goodbye to the most down to earth and fun loving president the US has seen so far. Many people wish he could remain in office for another four years. But, since that’s not the case, we can only look back at the notable moments that have happened during Obama's time in office.

1. Dining with the President: In 2014, Obama took Rebekah Erler to Matt’s Bar in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The mother of two had written a letter to Obama about economic difficulties.

2. White House aide Nate Tamarin, brought his son Nicholas Tamarin in for Halloween, and got to trick-or-treat just outside the Oval Office. Obama pretends to be ‘shot’ by Spidey’s webs.

3.) At a campaign event in Glen Allen, Virgina, Obama gave his remarks in the pouring rain so that everyone could quickly go home.

4.) Leaving Jamaica and about to board a plane, a rainbow appeared and Obama saw fit to say farewell with a salute. The White House photographer posted the shot to Instagram. This ironic photo symbolizes a lot of change and positivity Obama brought to the LGBTQ community.
