Receding Gums, Treatment And Prevention

There’s nothing like a nice smile. Unfortunately, it sometimes feels as if everything we eat and drink discolors our teeth or makes our gums recede. And while discoloration can be remedied fairly easily, a receding gum line may be much more difficult. The good news is that there are things we can do to help our teeth from looking gross. The remedies include some of the following ingredients:

  • Aloe vera
  • Lemon essential oil
  • Rose vinegar

Receding gums don’t always need to be treated in a dentist’s office. There are some natural remedies that can be used at home in order to control the deterioration of the gums and teeth.

Read on for the eight natural and easy remedies.

#1. Use Aloe Vera: Aloe vera is the green plant filled with a jelly-like substance with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown that putting the gel directly in the mouth and using it as a past to brush your teeth, and/or mixing it up with water for a mouthwash has the effect of whitening your teeth and keeping your gum line healthy.

#2. Use Lemon Oil: Add a few drops of lemon oil to your water and gargle with it on a regular basis. This will help you prevent recession of the gum line because of its ability to stimulate and increase tissue formation. Make sure you don’t ingest it.

#3. Stop Smoking: This habit is linked to innumerable types of cancer and also adversely affects your oral health. The reason fro this is that nicotine discolors your teeth. If anything, this is yet another amazing reason to quit smoking.

#4. Don’t Brush Your Teeth Right After Eating: We all know that brushing your teeth is something that we must do in order to have good oral hygiene, however, brushing too soon after eating can damage the enamel in its weakened state.

#5 Floss Your Teeth Daily: If you think your toothbrush is enough to remove all the bacteria in your mouth, you’ve got another think coming. In order to do it property, you need to get a piece of floss that’s about 18 inches long and then carefully slide the floss between each tooth using a zigzag motion. It’s important not to floss too hard because you can damage your gums.

#6 Rose Vinegar: Wash some organic rose petals and let them dry before adding them to a jar of white vinegar. Seal the jar and leave it out in the sun for about a month. This makes a potent mouthwash that is known to strengthen gums.

#7 Drink Water: We all know that water is very important, but did you know that drinking a lot of it can keep your gums healthy? This is because the water helps you get rid of the toxins from your mouth and your body. It’s like flushing out any germs that are casually hanging out in your mouth.

#8 Stop Eating Junk Food: Not only will you be doing your waistline a favor, but your teeth will look (and smell) better. Junk food helps bacteria to grow in your mouth which can lead to many infections.
