In an effort to help those in Puerto Rico who have been affected by Hurricane Maria, celebrities have taken to sharing awkward photos of themselves from their adolescent years.
The movement started with Stephen Colbert and Nick Kroll. On September 27, Kroll was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and the two wound up sharing photos of each other from years ago, which earned lots of laughter and applause from the crowd.
They then had the idea to involve other celebrities in the movement. They encouraged others to share awkward photos of themselves on social media using the hashtag #PuberMe and every time someone did, the duo would donate money to the victims of Hurricane Maria.
It didn’t take long for celebrities to hop on board.
Among those who have been using the hashtag are Ben Platt, Reese Witherspoon, John Mulaney, and Angela Kinsey.
Even Bill Clinton shared a photo of himself from many years ago, tagging Colbert in the post. He wrote, “the awkward years — big dreams & even bigger hair.”
Plenty of other celebrities have hopped on board as well from Amy Schumer, Aisha Tyler, and Alison Brie. And viewers haven’t been letting them live down the trip to memory lane either.
