Sometimes life likes to reminds us that unlikely lifelong friendships can happen outside of the movies. It’s a wonderful reminder that we can connect with anyone in some basic level that exists somewhere deep in our hearts. We can create friendships with one another even if there’s:
All we have to do is open ourselves up to those around us and have more empathy and sympathy for one another. It’s not that hard! Just remember that everyone you see is deals with sadness and disappointment the same way you do.
Last month, for example, a four year old girl named Norah became best friends with an 82 year old widower. The best part? Her mom documented the whole thing for our hearts to enjoy. It’s as sweet and heartwarming as it sounds!
On the day of her fourth birthday, preschooler Norah told her mother that she had a soft spot for ‘old peoples’. As they were pulling into the parking lot of a grocery store to buy birthday cupcakes, the little girl instructed her mother to watch out for slow-moving elders in the parking lot.
Her mother, a freelance writer named Tara Wood, asked her little girl more questions about her love for the elderly and Norah answered happily. ‘I like old peoples the best ‘cos they walk slow like I walk slow and they has soft skin like I has soft skin.’ Norah said ‘They all gonna die soon so I’m gonna love ‘em all up before they is died.’
At the grocery store, Norah spotted an elder gentleman in their aisle. Before Norah’s mom could stop her, the little girl called after the man with glee, saying, ‘Hi old person! It’s my birfday today!’
Tara wrote in a Facebook post that she was embarrassed by the little girl’s outburst and immediately prepared to apologize to the gentleman. But the his reaction took her completely by surprise!
