Regardless of where you work, you always have to stay professional. Staying away from doing things that will not only cost you your job but your reputation, in general, is a huge no-no. Teachers especially are being watched like hawks.
Everyone from their supervisors to their fellow co-workers to the student’s parents to even their students are constantly making sure that teachers are the best. That’s why it’s smart for them to change their names on social media, to keep their professional and private lives separate.
Recently, a teacher committed the worst offense of her career: having relationships with her students. Having relationships with minors is something that all normal and moral people stay away from, but it should be crystal clear if you’re a teacher.
An American teacher has been charged with having inappropriate relations with a 16-year-old and two 17-year olds.
On top of all that, she is also charged with one count of indecent liberties with a minor. Her name is Erin McAuliffe.
The 25-year-old teaches at Rocky Mount Preparatory and was arrested on suspicion of carrying on inappropriate relationships with three male students.
It’s been reported that police were called after allegations were made of misconduct against the teacher.
Daily Mail notes that a detective with the Rocky Mount Police Department interviewed students and staff at the school, which has about 1,300 students from kindergarten to the 12th grade.
They did all this prior to obtaining a warrant for the 25-year-old’s arrest. Erin was then held in Carteret County Jail on a $20,000 bail with the first court appearance scheduled on June 12th.
McAuliffe’s appearance in court looks significantly different from her social media photos. She refused to comment and ignored questions as she made her way into court, according to Daily Mail.
The police note that all the inappropriate encounters took place off campus, including the offense involving the minor. She was fired on May 4th.
Daily Mail notes that according to her LinkedIn profile, McAuliffe graduated from Methodist University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics.
She was hired at Rocky Mount Prep in August of 2016 after she was briefly a data analyst at a San Diego-based law firm.
Based on her social media account, Erin is believed to be single. She lives in Rocky Mount with a dog and a cat.
According to robertslawteam.com, relations with minors under the North Carolina Law can carry a sentence of 51-64 months in prison. Because this is Erin’s first reported offense, it is unlikely that she will have to serve more time.
