Ever since the news broke about Kim and Kanye’s use of surrogacy, speculation has been ongoing as to the identity of the surrogate mother and the details of the arrangement. Although no exact identity has been revealed or confirmed, it is widely known that they chose this alternative as a precaution, due to Kim being unable to conceive on her own any longer.
The new addition to the Kardashian-West family, Chicago West, was born on January 15th at 12:47 am to two proud parents and two excited siblings.
Kim released a statement on her official website thanking the surrogate for making their “dreams with come true with the greatest gift one could give.” Despite her choice to go this route, it wasn’t an easy decision to make. She made it clear that “anyone that says or thinks [surrogacy] is just the easy way out is completely wrong.”
When picking the surrogate, there were certain rules and conditions that were imposed. While carrying their baby, the woman was not allowed to use drugs, smoke, drink alcohol, go in hot tubs or saunas, apply hair dye, drink more than one caffeinated drink a day, eat raw fish, handle or change cat litter, as well as no sexual activity for three weeks following embryo implantation. The individual needed to strictly abide by all of these conditions if they wanted to be paid accordingly. Many people are curious about how much the surrogate mother was paid.
