Kesha is an American singer, songwriter, and actress and she came into prominence when she appeared in 2009 on Flo Rida’s hit single ‘Right Round.’ Recently, she came into the spotlight once again over her lawsuit with her producer, Dr. Luke, but things seem to be on the up once again now that she is releasing music on her own terms.
Her new album, ‘Rainbow,’ just came out and it includes many hits that she says are relatable to her as an artist and as a woman.
She says that her new album draws on influences like classic rock and country artists.
But to start things off, it seems like Kesha is in a much better place now. On Twitter, she posted a simple tweet saying ‘lots to smile about.’
Then another one where she tweeted: ‘another beautiful day so grateful for being able to have new music in the world.’
In an interview, Kesha stated her music before wasn’t exactly the same as the music she listened to. ‘I always liked my music before, but it never sounded sonically like the music I listen to.’
She goes on to say that for this album she sought inspiration from her idols such as T.Rex and Dolly Parton, with the latter making an appearance in her album!
On The Zach Kang show, Kesha said: ‘I haven’t slept in, like, I don’t know how many days because I’m so excited and nervous. I just feel like I’m on another planet.’
She said that she was crying tears of joy and that ‘basically, there was a point where I didn’t know if I was ever going to get to put out music again.’
Her single, Praying, reached number 2 on the iTunes charts and is currently sitting at the number eleven spot. The single has also cracked the top 20 on the radio as well!
Kesha says that her song was personal and relatable to her and others since she ‘channeled [her] feelings of severe hopelessness and depression’ into the song.
In a published essay, Kesha said that through her ‘darkest moments’ she was able to gain the most strength.
She continued on by writing: ‘there were so many days, months even, when I didn’t want to get out of bed….I was never at peace, night or day. But I dragged myself out of bed and took my emotions to the studio and made art out of them.’
And it seems like now, with her music career back in full swing, and Kesha fully embracing and loving herself, her fans and the general public will hopefully be seeing more of this eccentric pop star.
And her first single proves that as she says: ‘I am proud of who I am / No more monsters, I can breathe again.’
